What is Apple Pay?

Apple Pay is a payment feature that allows you to add your credit and/or debit cards to a supported Apple® device through the Wallet app and make purchases at participating merchants.

For iPhone, open the Wallet app and tap the plus sign. From there, follow the onscreen instructions.

For Apple Watch, open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and select Wallet & Apple Pay, then tap Add Credit or Debit Card. From there, follow the onscreen instructions.

For iPad, go into Settings, open Wallet and Apple Pay and select Add Credit or Debit Card. From there, follow the onscreen instructions.

Payments with a Touch

To pay within stores, hold iPhone near the contactless reader with your finger on Touch ID. On Apple Watch, just double-click the side button and hold the display of your Apple Watch up to the contactless reader. To pay within apps on iPhone and iPad, select Apple Pay as the payment method and place your finger on Touch ID¹.

Secure Payments

Apple Pay is safer than using a traditional credit or debit card, instead of using your actual card numbers, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored. With every transaction, you are required to authenticate with your Touch ID or your passcode. Your card and identity aren’t shared with the merchant, and your actual card numbers aren’t stored on your device or on Apple servers.
