The credit union advantage begins with members versus customers. Member ownership is one of the key differences between credit unions and other financial institutions. Unlike banks, which exist solely to earn a profit at the expense of their customers, our purpose is to make our members as financially successful as possible!
The Credit Union pays operating expenses and sets aside reserves to ensure financial stability. As a result, the excess earnings are returned to the members through competitive rates on savings, lower interest rates on loans, additional services, or bonus dividends.
Credit Unions operate democratically. As a member, you are a part owner and entitled to vote in the election of our Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee. These elected volunteers represent you in the oversight and governance of your credit union.
