2020 has been a crazy year. It seems like everything has changed in some way to accommodate safety in the face of Covid-19.
Now that’s it’s the holiday season, we can add Black Friday shopping to that list. Understandably, retailers have shifted much of their Black Friday promotion to be online, rather than in person.
Less intuitively, though, retailers have also shifted their timeline for sales as well. Several retailers have already started holiday promotions, and several other sales start well before Thanksgiving weekend.
Here’s a cheat sheet of some of the biggest— plus some of the craziest— deals to look out for.
Biggest Black Friday Sales
Amazon
If you want first crack at scoring deals from Amazon this year, you can’t wait until Black Friday; deals launch on Friday, November 20. The world’s largest online retailer has stayed pretty tight-lipped about their offerings for Black Friday sales, but expect to see discounts across their wide selections. You may also need to check back in periodically, as they’re expected to release new offers daily throughout the next week.
It’s not live yet, but this link will take you straight to Black Friday deals when they launch, or you can use the app. There are supposed to be deals available exclusively through Amazon Echo, so if you have one, ask Alexa “what are my deals,” to potentially find bonus sales.
Best Buy
Like many retailers, Best Buy has been releasing deals throughout the month to entice buyers, but they’ve kept some fireworks for the grand finale. Like many retailers, though, they’re not waiting for consumers to finish their turkey to release their biggest deals; the Best Buy deals are set to start on Sunday, Nov 22.
In normal years, Best Buy has a reputation for dropping new deals through Black Friday weekend, so, like with Amazon, it may be wise to check in through the weeks to look for new offerings.
Target
Target’s version of November-long sales has been branded as “Black Friday Deals NOW,” adding of the chorus of retailers offering a much longer sales window. They’ve kept their sales on an impressively consistent schedule, though; each Thursday they release the ad detailing deals available the following week.
Right on schedule, today Target released the ad that will start this Sunday, November 22, and run through Saturday, November 28, sandwiching Black Friday proper.
Walmart
Like others on this list, Walmart has been running specials all month— dubbed the Deal for Days promotion— and like others, Walmart has promised even bigger deals yet this month. They’re being more patient than the others mentioned, though, with online-only deals starting on Wednesday, November 25 at 6 pm central. They’re also releasing sales on Black Friday, with online sales starting at 11 pm central and in-store deals starting at 5 am.
Weirdest Black Friday Sales
23andMe
While Black Friday usually connotes large retail shopping, sales can be found all around. 23andMe is offering 50% off ancestry kits. This deal has already started and runs until Thanksgiving Day.
AeroGarden
Another option outside of your typical Black Friday deal, AeroGarden is offering up to 35% off as a holiday deal, as well as free shopping on orders over $50. I personally was gifted an AeroGarden, and love watching the plants grow so quickly; I also really appreciate the source of warm light during the dreary winter.
BioBidet
Certainly outside of the typical Black Friday deal, this easily qualities as one of the weirdest sales running this year. Bidet sales were at a high water mark earlier this year, and that trend may continue with a new wave of TP shortages. If you’re looking to join the wave, BioBidet is offering up to 33% off.
